Dear Church,

I am pleased to share with you all that we will be returning to mask-optional in worship, starting tomorrow! Several factors have contributed to this decision. The CDC has recommendations for thresholds regarding positivity rate and active cases (as well as hospitalizations) for communities as they navigate the pandemic. In the last week, Medina County positivity rate has lowered to just 5.3% - under the 10% threshold of concern. Also, our active case count decreased to 87, down from almost 800 two months ago. This information, taken together, means that Medina County as well as Bexar County are “low risk.”

If any of you still feel the desire to wear a mask and socially distance, we support you. All are welcome to come and worship the way they feel safe and comfortable. We will continue to livestream our worship service, yet we do hope that many will consider trying in-person worship again. We miss seeing you!

I offer a deep thank you to the Advisory team that works with me to make prayerful decisions: Sonny Lewis (Admin Council Chair), Kay Reynolds (Lay Leader) and Mary Peters (SPRC Chair). We were unanimous in our decision to return to more normal practice at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation, but for now we push forward with hope and excitement about how God will bless and grow our church.

In Christ,

Pastor Kevin
